My Lilies of the Valley - Poetry by Lillian Schiappa > Observing Lisa

22 Apr 2009

Bubbling, bright, bouncing Lisa shining as a copper in the sun.

I'll do it!  I'll do it!  I'll be the one.

Round the tables sit the cherubs, Lisa is the happy one!

Full of wonder, full of spirit, Lisa reaches out impulsively.

Put that down and let it be!  The teacher reprimands too sharply!

Lisa's face becomes as stone,

tears well up as waves in an ocean,

Yet the sweet young face hides inner emotion.

Large brown eyes are mirrored with distress,

as two tears slide down the face and dry upon her dress.

It seems that a wee part of a great spirit begins to die.
