My Lilies of the Valley - Poetry by Lillian Schiappa > I Cried in the Wilderness

22 Apr 2009

I cried in the wilderness

With no one there to hear;

Love was frozen half to death

With icicles for tears.

The wind cried out and howled in horror,

It's errie, wailing, wintery song

Joining me in sorrowful-tones

And urging me alone, along.

I cried in the wilderness

With no one there to hear;

A frozen heart with icicles

and frigid, frozen tears.

Love cried in the wilderness,

Echoing down through centuries of fears

Oh....then I heard....the thawed out words:

I love you.
